Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania – Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Tales of Tanzania representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you privately to Arusha.

Your first evening is intentionally relaxed. Settle into Gran Meliá Arusha, enjoy dinner and rest before your safari begins tomorrow.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Land of Giants

After breakfast, meet your private safari guide and drive towards Tarangire National Park.

The journey takes approximately two hours, passing through local villages and open countryside before you reach a landscape dominated by ancient baobabs and some of Tanzania’s largest elephant herds.

Spend the day exploring Tarangire with your private guide, following wildlife around the Tarangire River and Silale Swamp. Enjoy lunch before continuing your afternoon game drive.

Later, leave the park and continue to Tarangire Baobab Lodge, where you can relax and enjoy your evening surrounded by the landscapes of northern Tanzania.

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti – Into the Endless Plains

After breakfast, begin your journey towards the Serengeti, travelling through the Ngorongoro Highlands before descending towards the endless plains.

Once inside Serengeti National Park, your journey becomes part of the safari. Rather than simply driving to camp, your guide will look for wildlife along the way and stop whenever there is something worth experiencing.

Arrive at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge later in the afternoon, settle in and enjoy your first evening in the heart of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Central Serengeti – A Full Day in the Wild

Today is entirely yours to experience the Serengeti.

Start early if you would like to catch predators while they are active, return to camp for a relaxed breakfast and some time to enjoy the lodge, or spend the full day out with a picnic lunch.

With your own private vehicle and guide, there is no fixed group schedule. If something extraordinary is happening, you can stay with it. If you would prefer a slower afternoon, you can return to camp and enjoy the surroundings.

Central Serengeti is home to abundant resident wildlife, including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and large herds of plains game.

Return to Kubu Kubu later in the day for dinner and another night under the Serengeti sky.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro – A Final Serengeti Morning

Enjoy another morning in the Serengeti before beginning your journey towards Ngorongoro.

This morning remains flexible. You may head out early for another game drive, enjoy breakfast at camp before exploring, or spend a little longer following wildlife before leaving the plains.

After lunch, continue towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife sightings along the way.

Arrive at Meliá Ngorongoro Lodge in the afternoon and settle into your room on the crater rim. With the cool highland air, dramatic views and beautiful surroundings, this is a wonderful place to spend your final safari evening.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Your Safari Finale

Rise early for your final safari experience.

After breakfast, descend approximately 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. The early hours are particularly rewarding, with cooler temperatures and wildlife becoming active across the crater floor.

Explore the grasslands, woodland and wetlands in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and hyena. With some luck, you may also encounter the endangered black rhino.

After your crater experience, begin the journey back to Arusha, arriving in the afternoon.

Your safari ends with a private drop-off at your Arusha hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport, depending on your onward travel plans.
